Police are urging people to stop calling any 112 number as a way to contact police.
The story has been spread by social media sites, police said, and may or may not reach local first responders.
“It is advised that 911 is the only number that should be dialed for emergency assistance. Any other non-emergency police assistance should be directed to the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311,” police wrote.
Anyone with questions may call Acting Lt. Travis Ing in the Dispatch Center at 961-8808.
